++ UPDATED: See our retro poppy wedding cake featured on an episode of ‘Amazing Wedding Cakes Season 2’ on WeTV!! Part of We Go Bridal Night. ++
Honestly, I’m not typically a cake type of a girl. I’m more into dark chocolate and cookies. But once we saw cakes on the Cakegirls website and then tasted the sisters’ yummy samples at their Belmont studio we were hooked.
We gave them a swatch of our poppy cotton wedding theme fabric. I described the asymmetrical style I wanted and just like that she freehand sketched a gorgeous three-tier wedding cake decorated with handmade edible poppies that meandered up the side. Each four-layered slice contained two flavors: Chocolate cake filled with dark chocolate and orange cake filled with orange ganache, all iced with buttercream.
The word is out now on the Cakegirls. In the past six months they’ve been featured by The Food Network, InStyle Weddings, and People, plus our two-page feature article in the Knot Magazine. Wow!
