Last week I shared my wreath Festive Pot Luck Food Storage Containers wreath lid decoration that was featured in Jo-Ann national holiday advertising catalog. It’s a super cute way to decorate your storage containers for cookie exchanges and pot lucks.
Here’s a stockings version that’s perfect for rectangular storage container lids.
It features three stockings sitting on a modern circle “hearth.” You can download my free stockings pattern below.
And I used VELCRO® Removable Poster Hangers so it’s easy to remove when the party’s over.

How to make stockings decor food storage containers for cookie exchanges and pot lucks:
Note that the provided pattern will fit a 10-1/2″ x 6-1/4″ lid area – you can increase or decrease the size on a photo copier to fit your storage lid size.
Cut out stocking pieces — base, toe, heel, and top — from assorted patterned card stock.
Here’s a tip: Trace patterns backwards on the back side of the paper. Then when you cut it out, all your pencil lines will be hidden on the back.
Using VELCRO® Adhesive Dots attach the stocking toe, heel and top.
Just peel off a dot…
Stick onto the stocking bit.
Peel the other plastic piece off of the dot.
And stick. I seriously love the VELCRO Adhesive Dots because there’s no slipping around once you stick the dot.
Repeat for all three stockings.
Using a 1″ craft paper punch, punch out three glitter red circles and three glitter green circles to make your “mantle.”
Cut one fuzzy wall-side VELCRO® Poster Hangers into four smaller squares. Repeat to make 6 small squares. Place the mantle circles face down onto your working surface. Press 1 VELCRO® Poster Hanger circle onto the back of each circle.
Press the 6 small VELCRO Poster Hanger wall side squares onto the circles.
Pick up mantle circles and adhere to the top of your storage container lid, evenly spaced.
Place stockings face down onto your working surface. Press 1 VELCRO® Poster Hanger Removable Adhesive circle onto the back of each stocking towards the top of the stocking.
Press 1 small VELCRO® Poster Hanger Removable Adhesive wall side squares onto each circle.
Pick up stockings and adhere to the top of your storage container lid.
To remove: Slowly and carefully peel pieces from lid. You can reuse your stocking and mantle next Yuletide too.
