Here’s an easy patriotic July 4th banner DIY that you can make in less than an hour. My free printable flag banner template has blue pennants with white stars on the left and red & white stripes on the right. See how it looks like a flag when it’s hung?
You can make my super simple flag banner as short or long as you’d like. I made my paper flag banner using four stars pennants and five stripes pennants to fit the center panel of my fence. You can add more banners to make yours longer if you’d like.
Astrobrights Papers asked me to design a summer paper project using all the vibrant colors you’ll need to decorate for a Fourth of July party: Re-Entry Red™, Bright White, Lunar Blue™, and Blast-Off Blue™. This easy patriotic printable banner DIY is one of the 4th of July party decorations that I created for them.

How to make a DIY Fourth of July American flag banner
Step 1: Print my 4th of July banner free template onto paper
Download my free printable American flag banner template at Astrobrights.com. Print my Fourth of July banner onto blue, red, and white paper from Astrobrights cardstock paper and cut out the decor.
Step 2: Cut out the banner pieces and stars
Cut as many banner pieces from red, white, and blue as you like using paper scissors or craft knife, metal ruler, and self-healing mat. I cut out 4 blue, 3 red, and 2 white banner pennants to make my Fourth of July decor.
Step 3: Glue paper stars onto the blue banner bunting
Glue white stars onto the blue banner pieces using glue stick or school glue. Be creative here – it doesn’t have to match my flag.
Step 4: Hang your DIY 4th of July banner
Punch holes in the banner corners with a 1/8” hole punch, string the banner together with ribbon, and hang. I added large printable bomb pops to the banner sides to hide the tape.
