You spent all that time baking for holiday parties and cookie exchanges. Why put your goodies into plain storage containers? Decorate cookie tins and storage containers with this DIY paper wreath for holiday cookie exchanges – it removes easily to wash and re-use next year.
This post is sponsored by JOANN Stores and VELCRO® Brand. All DIY ideas and text are mine. Add a little holiday cheer by personalizing food storage container lids with a little card stock and VELCRO® Brand fasteners. Just cut card stock leaves using my free pattern and attach to the wreath shape using VELCRO® Brand Adhesive Dots — I love these little dots because they stick immediately so the leaves and berries don’t slide around:
Then attach the wreath to your food storage container lid using VELCRO® Brand Removable Poster Hangers for easy removal when the party’s over.
Maybe I came up with this idea for to deflect attention away from my very basic baking skills. It’s possible. But I’m sure that *your* goodies inside will look as good as the outside, yes?
I couldn’t be more excited that JOANN Stores featured this VELCRO® Brand-sponsored DIY project in its national advertising holiday catalog, right here in the bottom left on page 17:
And here’s the JOANN project instructions flyer:
You can download the PDF here or visit JOANN.com and click the green “Download Project” button. (I noticed that the flyer asks you to increase the pattern on a copier to fit your lid, but if you want a shortcut, here’s my wreath pattern that fits roughly a 7″ x 7″ working surface.)
Thanks to VELCRO® brand fasteners for sponsoring this DIY project. And cheers to a memorable, Martha-esque pot luck.

Great idea. I always end up using an ugly plastic container after spending hours on cookies. Great way to dress it up and make it look special!

I love this idea! I spend so much time making cookies for my office and now I can decorate my lid for an extra "wow." Thanks for the inspiration!
