How to make DIY lucky horseshoe napkin rings for St. Patrick’s Day
Step 1: Cut out my free printable horseshoe template
Print my horseshoe templates onto Astrobrights Solar Yellow cardstock paper, cut out, and set aside. Astrobrights makes both paper and cardstock weights; it works best to print the horseshoes on cardstock weight, although the regular paper weight will work, too.
Pro tip: Cut some extra horseshoes to sprinkle on your tablescape.
Step 2: Make paper rainbow napkin rings
Print my napkin rings template onto Astrobrights paper, cut out, and glue together to make small rainbows. My rainbows were Re-Entry Red + Fireball Fuschia + Cosmic Orange and Lunar Blue + Celestial Blue + Gravity Grape. You’ll want to use regular paper weight for the rainbows, not the heavier cardstock.
Step 3: Cut two slits in your paper rainbow napkin rings
You’re going to cut two slits in the napkin ring on opposite sides. Start by cutting a slit 1/2 way through the right side of the napkin ring, about 1/2 inch from the far right side. Use good paper scissors to get through all the layers of the rainbow. Remember – you’re just cutting through HALF of the napkin ring. Check out my Instagram video tutorial to see this step live.
Step 4: Wrap cloth napkin rings with paper napkin rings
This step is kinda like magic. Wrap the paper napkin ring around a rolled cloth napkin and secure by sliding the slits together. Voila! No need to tape the napkin rings shut.
Step 5: Add lucky horseshoes to your St. Patrick’s Day napkin rings
Attach horseshoes to the napkin rings with adhesive dots or a glue stick.
